My husband is 13 years older than I am and he’s already claimed his Social Security, so I needed to know what to do with mine. I had heard there was something special with my birthday range, but I didn’t know anything about it so I went to Faye. She told us it was true, that I was able to be grandfathered in to this old rule.
Without taking my Social Security, I could get half of his as soon as I turn 66 and not take mine until I turned 70. This equals out to about $76K in benefits that I will get over the next 5 years that I would not have known to take. And because I’ll be waiting to take my own benefits when I turn 70, it also means I’ll get about $13K more a year than if I had taken it early.
Thanks to Faye, I’ll receive $1600 a month that I would not have known to file for otherwise. She is very professional, warm and really knows her stuff. It was interesting to meet with her and she made the process painless and actually fun.
